Margaretha (Barbara) BREEBAART

Faculty

Is working as an anesthesiologist in the University Hospital Antwerp. She has a special interest in regional anesthesia, education and communication. She has been board a member of the BARA since 2011 of which she fulfilled the position of president from 2018-2021.
In 2015 Dr Breebaart finalized her PhD on spinal anesthesia in ambulatory surgery.
She participated in regional anesthesia ultrasound and cadaver workshops in Belgium and Europe and gave several lectures at international and national congresses on this topic. Since 2020 she became board member of the EDRA (European Diploma of Regional anesthesia and pain medicine).
She published several papers on the field of regional anesthesia in the form of original research or guidelines/consensus papers.
Dr Breebaart is a certified Comfort talk trainer, has a certificate in medical hypnotic communication and teaches communication skills at the University of Antwerp in the Department of health sciences. She currently follows a premaster at the open University of Antwerp in the field of Lifespan Psychology. Her newest projects are communication during invasive techniques and implementing improvisational theatre as a teaching tool in the medical curriculum.
In her free time she is a mother of three, likes cycling and running and does Improvisational Theatre.
